Romance author to host second book signing in Haile

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With one book signing under her belt, romance novelist Rebecca Heflin is fully prepared for her second, taking place this Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The Perfect Gift in Haile Village Center.

Heflin hosted her first book signing for her debut novel, “The Promise of Change,” this past October. It was pouring rain, so local passers-by were scarce, but a good crowd still pulled through to support the Gainesville author. Reading Through the Years

“Excited about Christmas for the first time since childhood, she could hardly wait to give everyone their gifts.”

“No sign of audacity. No trace of bravado. This was Lacey completely vulnerable and exposed. She’d been stripped of all her armor.”

Since my childhood years in elementary school, I had always been an avid reader of a wide variety of books. I’d pick up anything from “Persnickity” or “Kirsten’s Surprise” to “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” or “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Read the rest of this entry »

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Gainesville travel agency goes global with ecotourism

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The distinguishing factor between Expedition Travel and other travel agencies is simple: responsible travel. This Gainesville-based agency is focused on ecotourism, promoting the welfare of local people while encouraging these populations to conserve and protect their natural ecosystems.

Poor villages in developing countries are faced with a choice of how to feed their families, and cutting down trees or hunting wildlife has historically been some of their only options, according to Court Whelan, general manager of Expedition Travel. Through ecotourism, responsible tourists support the local economy through lodging, restaurants, shops, guide services and much more. Read the rest of this entry »
